A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level or Senior Patent Agent to provide patent prosecution services in software and electronics IP across various industries, primarily focusing on the Boston, MA area. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

Job Overview:

  • Provide patent prosecution services in software and electronics IP across various industries.
  • Familiarity with software and electronics is required, with experience in health and medicine being a plus.
  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution is essential.
  • Prior firm experience and registration with the USPTO is required.
  • Industry work experience and experience with patent litigation are advantageous.
  • 2 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Must demonstrate an excellent academic record, superior organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), a commitment to providing exceptional client service, and a creative and strategic approach to prosecution.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution services for software and electronics IP.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to strategize patent prosecution efforts.
  • Prepared and filed patent applications with the USPTO and foreign patent offices.
  • Conduct patentability searches and provide patentability opinions.
  • Assist in patent portfolio management and development.
  • Participate in patent litigation matters as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent discipline.
  • Registration with the USPTO.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to exceptional client service.
  • Creative and strategic approach to prosecution.
