A law firm in Kansas City, MO, is actively seeking an experienced Energy Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of expertise to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex energy and natural resources transactional work, including M&A, project development, and commercial agreements. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of both renewable and conventional energy sectors, with the ability to handle engineering, procurement, and construction contracts for renewable energy facilities. The candidate will also have experience in financing transactions within the energy and natural resources sector and will manage intricate transactions on tight timelines, including interacting with subject matter experts, and local counsel, and providing supervision to junior lawyers and legal support staff.

Duties:

  • Manage complex energy and natural resources transactional work, including M&A, project development, and commercial agreements.
  • Handle renewable energy transactional work, including M&A, joint ventures, build-transfer agreements, and various commercial agreements such as PPAs, O&M Agreements, Shared Facilities Agreements, and procurement contracts.
  • Oversee conventional energy and natural resources transactional work, with a particular emphasis on oil and gas.
  • Manage engineering, procurement, and construction contracts for renewable energy generating facilities.
  • Handle financing transactions in the energy and natural resources sector.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of demonstrated experience in a sophisticated law firm environment.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in the state of Missouri.

Advantageous Experience:

  • Engineering, procurement, and construction contracts for renewable energy generating facilities.
  • Financing transactions in the energy and natural resources sector.

Skills:

  • Strong project management skills to handle complex transactions on tight timelines.
