A law firm in Minneapolis is seeking a Litigation/Labor and Employment Associate Attorney. The attorney will handle a diverse case load, including labor and employment litigation, commercial and general business litigation, partnership/shareholder disputes, real estate litigation, construction litigation, and more. They will conduct legal research, draft legal documents, collaborate on case strategy, and participate in depositions and hearings. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and analytical skills, a Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school, and be licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota or have the ability to become licensed within 3 months.

 

Duties:

  • Litigate a diverse case load, including labor and employment litigation, commercial and general business litigation, partnership/shareholder disputes, real estate litigation, construction litigation, and more.
  • Conduct legal research and draft research memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Collaborate with senior associates and partners on case strategy and tactics.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses to discovery requests.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Draft non-dispositive and dispositive motions.
  • Prepare for hearings and trial.
  • May be involved with employment advice and counseling, responses to administrative charges, employee handbook reviews, labor arbitrations, NLRB proceedings, unionization and labor unit issues, work stoppages, and the like.

 

Requirements:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota or ability to become licensed in Minnesota within 3 months.

 

Experience:

2-5 years of experience in litigation, preferably with a focus on labor and employment law.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Certifications (optional):

Certification in Labor and Employment Law (preferred).

 

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, including experience with depositions, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and work independently.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to handle a diverse case load and adapt to changing priorities.
