Job Overview:
A Chicago-based law firm with a diverse clientele is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join its expanding legal team. The position involves direct client interaction, case preparation, and legal advocacy before federal immigration bodies. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for immigration law and a commitment to serving clients from various cultural backgrounds in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct initial consultations and ongoing legal assessments for individuals and families navigating immigration processes

  • Draft and submit petitions, applications, and supporting documentation to relevant immigration agencies

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)

  • Participate in hearings, prepare legal briefs, and submit motions as necessary

  • Coordinate with internal staff and external interpreters in a multilingual legal environment

  • Maintain case files and manage docket schedules efficiently

  • Stay up to date with changes in immigration laws and policies

  • Engage in case strategy development in collaboration with colleagues when required

Requirements:

  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state

  • Prior exposure to immigration casework through internships, clinics, or legal employment

  • Working knowledge of immigration proceedings, including USCIS filings and EOIR litigation

  • Ability to operate independently while also contributing to a team-focused culture

  • Willingness to handle a high volume of cases with varying deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good-standing membership with a State Bar Association

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research capabilities

  • Clear, concise written communication for legal drafting

  • Confident oral advocacy skills before tribunals

  • Multilingual skills or experience working with multicultural clients are an advantage

  • Familiarity with legal case management systems
