A reputable law firm based in Chicago, IL, is expanding its legal team and seeking an experienced attorney to independently manage a busy docket of Workers’ Compensation cases. This role offers a rare chance to help shape the firm's Illinois practice, engaging in direct client advocacy, litigation, and strategic legal development. The ideal candidate is a skilled negotiator, confident in arbitration, and ready to guide clients through complex injury-related claims with compassion and precision.

Duties:

  • Lead representation for injured workers in Illinois Workers’ Compensation matters from initial intake through resolution

  • Conduct hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and pre-trial proceedings

  • Draft comprehensive legal filings, including motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements

  • Engage in settlement negotiations to secure favorable outcomes for clients

  • Maintain regular and empathetic client communication to manage expectations and explain case progression

  • Coordinate with medical experts, specialists, and team members to develop a case strategy

  • Ensure timely filings and compliance with procedural deadlines

  • Provide informal mentorship or supervision to junior team members when applicable

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience managing Workers’ Compensation cases in Illinois

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois (JD and state bar admission required)

  • Demonstrated ability to handle client communications with professionalism and empathy

  • Strong organizational skills with experience in prioritizing a high-volume caseload

  • Practical experience with depositions, hearings, and mediation is strongly preferred

  • Strong written advocacy and oral presentation skills

  • High attention to detail and adherence to procedural requirements

  • Bilingual fluency is a plus, though not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (mandatory)
