Job Overview:

The Mid-Senior Level Patent Agent will play a crucial role in the firm's life sciences patent practice, working closely with colleagues and in-house counsel to provide expert guidance throughout the product lifecycle. Duties:

  • Provide technical expertise in life sciences patent practice
  • Work closely with colleagues and in-house counsel on IP-related issues throughout the product lifecycle
  • Conduct freedom to operate and/or IP due diligence search and analysis for large-molecule products
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, contributing to the development of strong patent portfolios
  • Liaise with clients, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding domestic and foreign patent application processes and strategies

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. (or master's or other advanced degree) in biological sciences (e.g., molecular or cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, or biochemistry)
  • Superior academic record with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Prior law firm experience in patents within pharmaceutical and life sciences fields
  • Current registration and good standing with the USPTO
  • 3-8 years of patent experience (as a patent specialist, patent agent, or patent attorney)
  • Leadership skills and ability to excel in a team environment
  • Keen interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Highly motivated and self-starter with flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent law school credentials and references

Education and Certifications:
