Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking junior-level associates (1st to 4th year) to join its Environmental Practice Group. This position focuses on environmental regulatory compliance, enforcement, and transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have experience with a broad range of environmental regulations and may also have exposure to environmental liabilities in restructuring, administrative law, or environmental litigation. This opportunity offers high-level work within a collaborative and established team of legal professionals.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Advise on federal and state environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement matters

  • Provide legal support in environmental aspects of corporate transactions and restructuring matters

  • Analyze and counsel on environmental liabilities, especially in bankruptcy or restructuring contexts

  • Contribute to environmental litigation and administrative proceedings as needed

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda and client communications

Requirements:

  • 1–4 years of relevant experience in environmental regulatory law

  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act)

  • Experience or interest in restructuring, administrative law, and/or environmental litigation

  • Strong academic credentials required, with the ability to produce a law school transcript upon request

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and analytical abilities

  • Clear, effective communication and client advisory skills

  • Ability to manage complex legal issues independently and collaboratively

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
