Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney with 2+ years of prosecution experience, preferably with expertise in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing, and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, microscopy systems, and imaging techniques. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Duties:

  • Conducting patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications
  • Managing patent portfolios, including strategic planning and advising clients on patent matters
  • Collaborating with clients and inventors to understand inventions and drafting patent specifications
  • Conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses
  • Providing support in patent litigation matters, including infringement analysis and invalidity opinions
  • Reviewing and analyzing prior art and technical documents
  • Participating in patent-related meetings, negotiations, and client consultations
  • Assisting in the preparation of patent opinions and advising on intellectual property strategies

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
  • Experience with portfolio management
  • Demonstrated experience in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, and microscopy systems and imaging techniques preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical (with an electrical or software focus)
  • Experience in software and AI is a plus
  • Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
  • Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus
