Job Overview

A law firm seeks a junior level associate in Washington, D.C. to join its Employment Services practice. The associate will engage in complex employment litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as administrative proceedings, offering the opportunity to develop litigation skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Support all phases of employment litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Manage and review document productions and assist with discovery strategy.
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Assist with witness preparation and trial preparation, including exhibit and briefing support.
  • Collaborate with partners and associates on litigation strategy and case management.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments.
  • Monitor developments in employment law and assist with internal knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 2 years of employment litigation or comparable litigation experience.
  • Experience handling discovery, drafting motions, and conducting legal research.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in employment law and representing employers.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective communication with clients and team members.
