A law firm is seeking a Junior to Midlevel Patent Agent (Life Sciences) for their office in Waukesha. The Patent Agent (Life Sciences) will be responsible for providing patent prosecution support, including drafting patent applications, conducting patent searches, and interacting with clients. The ideal candidate should possess a degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry or a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Admission to the USPTO is preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and client specifications.
  • Conduct patent searches to assess the patentability of inventions and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and legal teams to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and addressing inquiries related to patent matters.
  • Stay current on developments in patent law and relevant technologies.

 

Requirements:

  • A degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, or a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred.
  • 2+ years of patent prosecution experience at a firm or in-house.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent business judgment.
  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
