Job Title: Real Estate Litigation/Landlord-Tenant Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Uniondale, NY is seeking a skilled attorney with demonstrated experience in landlord-tenant disputes and real estate litigation. This role involves direct engagement with a diverse portfolio of property owners and developers, with a particular emphasis on New York City-based matters. The position offers meaningful trial exposure, opportunities for hands-on client contact, and hybrid work flexibility.

Duties:

• Represent clients in daily appearances before New York City Landlord-Tenant courts

• Prepare legal documents including rent demands, termination notices, notices to cure, and non-payment/holdover petitions

• Draft pleadings for plenary actions involving breach of lease, guaranty, or contract

• Draft lease amendments, surrender agreements, and other landlord-tenant instruments

• Provide day-to-day legal support to operators of residential and commercial properties, primarily in NYC but also nationally

• Participate in motion practice, including drafting motions to compel and motions for summary judgment

• Conduct and support trial proceedings in landlord-tenant matters

• Advise property owners on compliance, strategy, and risk mitigation across various asset classes

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in landlord-tenant and real estate litigation

• Familiarity with NYC Housing Court procedures and relevant predicate notice requirements

• Strong drafting capabilities for both litigation and transactional landlord-tenant documents

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, client-focused environment

• Willingness to appear in court regularly

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing

Skills:

• Courtroom advocacy and oral argument experience

• Strong legal research, writing, and drafting abilities

• Familiarity with both residential and commercial real estate laws in NYC

• Effective communicator with clients, courts, and opposing counsel

• Capable of managing multiple matters with attention to detail and efficiency

• Litigation and negotiation experience in real estate-related disputes

Job Location:

• Uniondale, NY (with flexibility for NYC-based work and court appearances)

• Hybrid schedule: minimum of 3 days in office, 2 days remote
