NOT RECOMMENDED Read More About the BCG Attorney Search Law Firm Ranking System

We have reasons for not trusting this firm and caution against using them.
Not Recommended law firms may have a history of complaints and negative reviews, possibly making them risky workplaces for associates and other employees. These firms may exhibit toxic work environments marked by a lack of coordination between departments and management, possible political strife, and different problematic dynamics. The management at Not Recommended firms may be unresponsive to concerns about human resources or political issues, leading to high employee dissatisfaction and, in some cases, negative experience. As a result, these firms may be considered undesirable choices for those seeking stable and fulfilling employment in the legal industry. Some law firms ranked Not Recommended or below are done so based on private information possessed by BCG Attorney Search. This information makes us nervous about recommending this firm to others until these issues are corrected.
We have been in this business for 25+ years, have spoken with countless attorneys from this firm, and believe that certain firms (most firms) err on the side of being more positive than negative places to work. There are also firms where the reports from attorneys are more negative than positive and have been for years. This does not mean every attorney has a negative experience at Not Recommended firms, every department is problematical, or every office is. Over time, cultural, management, and other issues result in an overall negative rating. We are careful about making these ratings only when confidential; ongoing adverse reports are confirmed by our experience with the firm and speaking with many attorneys there that seem consistently more negative than positive.

ralegals are not trained properly - Toxic environment

Riker Danzig is a law firm with a good reputation. It is a good place to start a legal career, as many of the attorneys are generally nice to work for, and the people there treat you like family. The firm has good benefits, such as happy hours and a great location, and the work hours are good. However, there are some issues with the firm. The compensation is low and only increases by a couple of thousand per year, and there is limited career progression for associates. The firm is also extremely cheap, and partners and paralegals are not trained properly. Additionally, there is a toxic environment, and one paralegal supervisor has been known to harass other paralegals. Lastly, there is no real effort when it comes to diversity.

Overall, the reviews for Riker Danzig are mostly positive. The attorneys are generally nice to work with and the people there treat each other like family. The work hours are good and there are benefits, such as happy hours and a great location. Cons: 2.0 Current Employee Get Out! Sep 5, 2022 - Administrative Assistant Pros Some attorneys are generally nice to work for Cons - Pay below market value - Firm is extremely cheap - Partners and paralegal supervisor are very belittling - Everyone knows each other's business - Turnover rate is extremely high - No room for growth Advice to Management Get out while you can, best to just get experience and leave. It's like the firm wants people to leave based on the way they treat people. Management needs to actually consider who is a good fit for the company because there are many individuals who are not fit for their roles. Some people think they are more important than others. Should be a collaborative environment instead of just independent. Office gossip needs to be addressed because once someone quits, the entire firm knows.Unhappy experience, could not wait to leaveLegal Assistant (Former Employee) - Morristown, NJ - August 28, 2012Attorneys did their own typing so I was a glorified copy girl responsible only for fixing their mistakes on documentsProsgood location for commuteConsattorney questioned pto related to hospital stays

"Frustrating Experience at Cheap Law Firm: Low Pay, High Turnover, and Belittling Management" - Anonymous

Cons: "During my time at the Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti LLP., it became clear that the firm prioritizes cost-cutting over valuing its employees. Pay was below market value, and the partners and paralegal supervisor were belittling and dismissive. The office culture was toxic, with high turnover and a lack of opportunities for growth. Gossip and office politics were rampant, and the management did not address these issues. While some attorneys were generally nice to work for, the overall experience was negative. My advice to management would be to re-evaluate the company culture and employee treatment, as well as to consider the fit of employees for their roles. A more collaborative and supportive environment would greatly benefit the firm and its employees."
