New York City office of our client seeks environmental associate attorney 1-3 years of experience. The candidate will advise on environmental matters in mergers and acquisition transactions. Will primarily involve transactional work, and will also involve environmental litigation and regulatory work, including advising on international multilateral environmental agreements. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating environmental provisions in transaction agreements and standalone environmental agreements. Managing and conducting due diligence with both attention to detail and an understanding of "big picture" client concerns. Advising clients through each environmental aspect of a deal, from designing and coordinating environmental due diligence assessments, through negotiating agreements, to handling closing and post-closing matters. Coordination deal teams and processes across practice areas and geographical locations, including collaborating with other members of the Environmental and Climate Change practice team located in our offices located in Latin America, EMEA, Australia, and Asia. Assisting with environmental litigation, climate change matters and environmental regulatory compliance matters. Advising a broad range of domestic and international clients, including public and private companies, developers, private equity firms, global organizations, and governments, on environmental matters in complex corporate transactions, projects, and environmental regulatory compliance and climate change issues. Solving legal problems relating to new and emerging environmental law issues. Conducting brief or more complex research, or drafting of memoranda, depending on client needs. Serving as primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and other transactional legal teams. Exercising good judgment in internal and external written and verbal communications. Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services to leading international and domestic clients. Mentoring and training of junior team members and attendance at, and participation in, continuing education classes and client development initiatives. Should have experience should include environmental transactional work. Experience with environmental litigation and environmental regulatory work is desired. Experience in government, non-profit or in-house corporate is a plus. Knowledge of international environmental treaties is a plus. Must have experience supporting mergers and acquisition, real estate and project finance practices with respect to large and small scale due diligence projects as well as transaction documentation.
