"Do you have any ideas for getting business from clients from previous firms?"
The best way to get clients from your previous firms is to do a very good job with those clients while you're in that firm. That's the big thing. You need to remember that most of those clients will have relationships with partners and other people in that law firm, and they're not going to be able to be pried away unless you do exceptional work for them and able to help them. What tends to happen, the reason those clients are pulled away is that a partner will get a lot of business and will start ignoring clients, and then they'll give the work to someone else. Then that person would go do the work, and then they'll leave and take the client. It just depends, but I would stay in touch with the clients and let them know what you're doing and just be visible and contact them and never ask them for work directly. If they contact you, they know that's what you're asking for. But if you ask for the work, then that's going to make you look bad.
Never asked for the work, always contact them, let them know what you're doing. That's not something you should be doing, but if they come to you, then all bets are off.
