This role involves supporting lawyers in patent prosecution matters, including analyzing invention disclosures and drafting patent applications.

Duties

  • Draft patent applications and prosecute them before the USPTO.
  • Analyze scientific or technical documents to assess inventions or issued patents.
  • Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms.
  • Prepare information disclosure statements and other related materials.
  • Manage U.S. and foreign patent prosecution dockets to meet deadlines.
  • Conduct interviews with USPTO examiners.
  • Stay updated on legal developments in intellectual property.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in engineering or physics.
  • Patent Agent candidates must be admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Highly organized and responsive, with experience managing multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO (for Patent Agent candidates).
