A law firm in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Lateral Family Law Attorney with 3+ years of experience. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist in all aspects of family law practice, including traditional representation, limited representation, mediation, collaborative law, and appellate advocacy. They will handle a diverse range of cases and issues, including premarital agreements, separation, divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, adoption, termination of parental rights, guardianships, and conservatorships.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in various areas of family law.
  • Handle cases from initial client consultation through resolution, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods.
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and agreements related to family law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support cases.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience practicing family law.
  • Strong academic background with a J.D. from an ABA-Accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Ability to promptly obtain admission in the State of Iowa.
  • Mediation and collaborative law training and experience are helpful.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-Accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of family law principles and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
