Job Overview: A law firm in Riverside, CA, is seeking a Housing/Real Estate Attorney with 3 years of experience in affordable housing and real estate matters. The ideal candidate will handle various aspects of affordable housing transactional work, focusing on local government and affiliated entity perspectives. Substantial legal experience in areas such as housing tax credits, public housing redevelopment, and HUD programs is highly desirable.

Duties:

  • Work on all aspects of affordable housing transactional matters, including ground leases, corporate resolutions, and operating/partnership agreements.
  • Draft and review federally-funded loan documents, multi-family permanent supportive housing management agreements, construction contracts, and subrecipient agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal funding requirements and entitlements.
  • Handle general real estate work related to commercial lending, development, acquisitions, and dispositions of real property.
  • Conduct real estate closings on large commercial transactions.
  • Review Texas title policies and surveys.
  • Navigate local government procurement requirements and CDBG implementation programs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in affordable housing and real estate law.
  • Substantive legal experience in housing tax credits, public housing redevelopment, and HUD programs.
  • Knowledge of Texas title policy and survey review.
  • Familiarity with local government procurement requirements and CDBG implementation programs.
  • Licensed to practice law in California or Texas.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California or Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong legal drafting and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office suite.
