Personal Injury/Municipality Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm based in Edwardsville, IL, is actively seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its litigation team, focusing on personal injury and municipal legal matters. This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in meaningful client advocacy, courtroom appearances, and hands-on case development within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Duties:

  • Support senior attorneys in managing personal injury and municipal cases

  • Conduct client and third-party interviews to gather critical case details

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents

  • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Perform legal research and draft supporting memoranda

  • Review, analyze, and summarize medical documentation and billing records

  • Respond to discovery and assist with drafting interrogatories and other responses

  • Manage communication with clients and opposing parties

  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure case progression

Requirements:

  • Between 1 to 5 years of experience in personal injury, municipal law, workers’ compensation, or similar practice areas

  • Demonstrated ability to handle a diverse caseload and meet deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate empathetically with clients

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with sound judgment in legal analysis

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities

  • Adaptability when managing client concerns and changing case developments
