A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney specializing in legal writing for a position in Dallas, TX. The role involves preparing high-quality legal briefs and filings for EOIR and federal circuit courts, with a focus on appellate work. The candidate will manage their caseload and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This hybrid position requires in-person court appearances.

Duties

  • Draft memorandums, appeals, and other legal documents for immigration-related appellate work.
  • Prepare and file appeals before EOIR, the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal circuit courts.
  • Draft and submit motions to reopen in complex immigration cases.
  • Handle cases involving FOIA requests, analyzing documents to inform legal strategies.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to develop strong case arguments.
  • Stay current on developments in immigration law relevant to appellate and federal cases.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in immigration law with a focus on legal writing and appellate work.
  • Experience in drafting appeals for EOIR, BIA, and federal circuit courts.
  • Familiarity with motions to reopen and FOIA-related cases.
  • Excellent legal writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
