Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney specializing in removal defense to join their team in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in removal defense, and be fluent in Spanish. This full-time position requires a proactive individual who can manage cases independently while engaging with immigrant communities.

Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of detained and non-detained clients from intake through resolution.
  • Draft and file motions, briefs, appeals, and applications for various forms of relief.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Communicate with clients and families in English and Spanish.
  • Network with community organizations and advocacy groups.
  • Stay informed of immigration law and policy changes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible to waive into Texas.
  • 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, preferably in removal defense.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Strong litigation and brief-writing skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and motivated to take initiative.
  • Ability to manage cases independently and collaborate with the team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas or another U.S. jurisdiction
