Job Overview: A law firm located in Wheaton, IL, is seeking a Franchise Law Attorney who will be responsible for managing a base of franchise clients and providing transactional and regulatory legal services. Job Duties:

  • Independently manage a portfolio of franchise clients while collaborating with the legal team.
  • Handle franchisor representation, including franchise disclosure and registrations, drafting Franchise Agreements and related documents, and addressing franchise relationship issues (renewals, transfers, defaults, and terminations).
  • Provide franchise law compliance services, including client counseling and training programs, as well as responding to government inquiries.
  • Offer franchisee representation services, including reviewing Franchise Disclosure Documents and Franchise Agreements, counseling prospective franchisees, and negotiating agreements.
  • Handle franchise agreement renewals, transfers of franchise businesses, and relationship issues with franchisors for existing franchisees.
  • Ensure strict adherence to transactional and regulatory work within the franchise law domain.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality work products and exceptional client service.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
  • Prior experience in franchise law is mandatory.
  • Experience representing franchisors is required, while experience representing franchisees is preferred.
  • Additional experience in transactional business law is a plus.
  • Desire and ability for direct client contact.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in the State of Illinois.

Certifications:

  • Active and valid license to practice law in the State of Illinois.
