Job Overview:

A respected immigration law firm is seeking a Senior RFE/Appeals Associate Attorney to lead a key segment of its RFE and Appeals team. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of family-based and humanitarian immigration law and will provide strategic legal guidance, mentor junior attorneys, ensure consistency in submissions, and handle complex and high-priority matters. This role is ideal for an experienced immigration attorney with a passion for training, quality assurance, and advocacy.

Location:

  • Coral Gables, FL

Duties:

  • Provide legal oversight and sign-off on RFE, NOID, NOIR, Denial, and Appeal responses

  • Support staff attorneys in real-time with legal questions, escalations, and strategy

  • Mentor and train staff attorneys on writing, analysis, and USCIS procedural expectations

  • Collaborate with production supervisors to resolve workflow issues and improve quality

  • Conduct audits of completed responses to ensure legal accuracy and consistency

  • Track and implement updates related to USCIS policies and adjudication trends

  • Lead or assist in firm initiatives related to legal operations and training programs

  • Manage complex and high-priority cases requiring senior-level review and insight

  • Contribute to legal training of new hires and continuing legal education efforts

  • Serve as a subject-matter resource across firm departments for RFE and Appeals strategy

  • Assume accountability for the legal performance of an assigned team segment

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of active U.S. state bar membership in good standing

  • At least 4–5 years of experience in family-based and humanitarian immigration law

  • Proven expertise in RFE/NOID/NOIR responses, denial rebuttals, and appeals

  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or training attorneys in a high-volume setting

  • Demonstrated ability to identify legal and evidentiary gaps in complex immigration matters

  • Enthusiastic about cross-functional collaboration and operational efficiency

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing with a U.S. state bar

Skills:

  • Advanced legal writing and editing

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities

  • Mentorship and leadership capabilities in a legal team setting

  • Familiarity with humanitarian applications including VAWA, T visas, U visas, AOS, I-130

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume casework

  • Ability to adapt to legal and procedural updates

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Commitment to firm values, continuous improvement, and client advocacy
