Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Lead eDiscovery Attorney, preferably based in New York, to guide and support clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery. The role involves advising on information governance, deposition preparation, and trial support, while collaborating with various teams to implement best practices.

Duties

  • Advise clients on eDiscovery phases including preservation, processing, review, and production.
  • Provide guidance on pre-litigation information governance and trial support.
  • Lead negotiations on ESI protocols and prepare eDiscovery motions.
  • Collaborate to develop tailored eDiscovery workflows and protocols.
  • Advise on data disposition, legal holds, and records retention policies.
  • Oversee and train Litigation Staff Attorneys and manage team staffing.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency in work produced by junior attorneys and service providers.
  • Monitor developments in eDiscovery rules and regulations.
  • Liaise with Practice Support and Knowledge & Innovation teams on eDiscovery technologies.
  • Partner with Attorney Training & Development to create training programs.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • At least 7 years of experience in eDiscovery.
  • In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery laws and best practices.
  • Experience with eDiscovery review platforms and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Ability to manage complex discovery workflows and provide strategic advice.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality control.
  • Ability to manage expectations and adapt plans in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in eDiscovery preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in eDiscovery review platforms.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and risk management focus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
