Senior Cyber/Data/Privacy Associate Attorney or Special Counsel

A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Senior Cyber/Data/Privacy Associate Attorney or Special Counsel with a focus on regulatory investigations, litigation involving consumer protection issues, and defense of data privacy and security class actions. The ideal candidate will have a high level of academic achievement, the ability to engage directly with clients, lead significant projects, possess general tech fluency, and impeccable analytical and writing skills.

Duties:

• Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects in the areas of regulatory investigations, consumer protection litigation, and data privacy and security class actions.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on complex cyber, data, and privacy issues.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Provide strategic legal advice to clients on compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
• Represent clients in regulatory proceedings and court hearings.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience focusing on regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State AG, FTC, and other regulatory agencies).
• Well-versed in defending data privacy and security class actions, including claims under the Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, unfair and deceptive trade practices claims, and data breach class actions.
• High level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school.
• General tech fluency.
• Impeccable analytical and writing skills.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a nationally recognized law school.

Certifications:

Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

• Ability to lead and manage significant legal projects.
• Strong client engagement and communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of cyber, data, and privacy laws and regulations.
