Job Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Partner-level Employment Law Attorney to lead and expand its Employment Law practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to guide strategic growth within a flagship office and contribute to firm-wide innovation. Ideal for a senior attorney with defense experience, team management skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit, this role combines litigation, client development, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Practice & Case Management

  • Lead a caseload involving:

    • Discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage & hour disputes, FMLA claims, and compliance issues

  • Represent employers in state/federal courts and before administrative agencies (EEOC, DOL)

  • Provide proactive counsel and legal training to corporate clients on employment compliance and risk management

Client Development & Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of business clients

  • Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to expand reach

  • Represent the firm at industry events, speaking engagements, and in thought leadership efforts

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as Unit Lead for the Employment Law team, managing attorneys and legal staff

  • Mentor junior attorneys and promote a high-performing, collaborative team culture

  • Participate in departmental planning and leadership meetings

Cross-Practice Collaboration

  • Work closely with other practice group leaders in General Liability, Corporate, Labor & Employment, and more

  • Support integrated, client-centered service strategies across multiple legal areas

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Florida Bar

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in employment law defense litigation and counseling

  • Experience managing or mentoring a legal team

  • Portable book of business preferred or proven ability to develop and grow client relationships

  • Demonstrated success in litigation, client service, and business development

  • Deep knowledge of federal and Florida employment laws (FLSA, ADA, Title VII, FMLA, etc.)

  • Strong leadership presence and ability to guide strategic direction

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
