Job Overview:
A leading criminal defense law firm based in Chicago, IL is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This role is ideal for newly licensed or early-career attorneys (0–2 years of experience) with a passion for criminal law and courtroom advocacy. The attorney will assist in defending clients facing a wide range of criminal charges including violent crimes, sex offenses, DUIs, drug crimes, and domestic violence. Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in criminal cases from intake through trial

  • Appear in court (in-person and virtual), argue motions, conduct hearings, and assist at trials

  • Assist with legal research, drafting motions, and trial preparation

  • Analyze evidence, develop legal strategies, and communicate case updates to clients

  • Participate in client intake and case evaluation

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and staff to deliver high-quality representation

  • Engage in firm-supported professional development activities

Requirements:

  • 0–2 years of experience in criminal litigation (internship or clerkship experience acceptable)

  • Strong oral and written advocacy skills

  • Willingness to appear in court frequently and handle fast-paced litigation

  • Reliable transportation to attend court appearances across jurisdictions

  • Passion for criminal defense and a strong desire to represent clients zealously

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment

  • Sales or client-facing experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois (required)
