A law firm seeks a Government Contracts Associate in Washington, DC to join a growing practice focused on clients in the Aerospace, Defense, and Next-Generation Energy sectors. The ideal candidate will have a transactional background and experience in drafting and negotiating complex contracts, licenses, and developmental agreements.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation.
  • Draft well-reasoned legal documents, including briefs and contracts.
  • Assist in managing complex cases and transactions from inception to resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular updates and advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative case strategies.
  • Participate in high-level legal activities such as court hearings and negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay updated on legal precedents.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance legal and leadership skills.
  • Contribute to firm programs, civic organizations, and pro bono work.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in the Aerospace, Defense, and Next-Generation Energy sectors.
  • Experience in an AmLaw 100 firm is preferred.
  • Prior non-legal experience in a client advisory role is encouraged.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the DC Bar or ability to gain admission.
