Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly skilled associate or counsel to join its Employment and Labor practice in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have experience in Texas employment litigation advice and counseling, and will be responsible for a variety of legal tasks in this dynamic field.

Duties

  • Perform legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and dispositive motions.
  • Attend court appearances and draft and respond to discovery and meet and confer letters.
  • Defend individual and class action wage and hour claims in court and arbitration.
  • Respond to government investigations and inquiries.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Strong background in federal and state statutes affecting employment relationships.
  • Experience in Texas employment litigation and advice and counseling.
  • Significant experience with adversary proceedings in state and federal courts.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with employment manuals and related documents.
  • Comfort with direct client interaction and providing legal counseling.
  • Active member in good standing of the Texas bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.

  • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and proactive problem-solving approach.
