Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Attorney/Of Counsel to join its Public Client Practice Group in Washington, D.C. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced litigator to engage in public-sector litigation within a private-sector setting, partnering with government entities on high-impact civil enforcement actions.

Duties

  • Lead all stages of complex litigation, including legal research, motions practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Draft and edit high-quality legal briefs and memoranda.
  • Manage all aspects of discovery, including depositions and subpoenas.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and litigation staff.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies in collaboration with public clients.
  • Represent clients in court, at hearings, and in settlement discussions.
  • Assess the legal and factual sufficiency of potential matters.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of litigation experience, including in complex civil matters and/or government investigations.
  • Experience with subpoenas, motions practice, oral arguments, depositions, trial preparation, and case management.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage fast-paced caseloads with discipline and creativity.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Active membership in the DC Bar, or willingness to apply within 90 days of employment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the DC Bar, or eligibility to apply.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
