A law firm located in Great Falls is seeking a Patent Agent with 3+ years of patent prosecution experience. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent degree/background. Strong writing and communication skills are essential for this role. Experience in semiconductor, circuit, medical imaging, and/or USPTO matters is considered advantageous.

 

Duties:

  • Assist attorneys in patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Conduct prior art searches and assist in providing patentability and infringement opinions.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their inventions and assist in developing patent strategies.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions from the USPTO.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and attorneys to understand technical aspects of inventions.
  • Conduct interviews with patent examiners to advance patent applications.
  • Provide technical and legal support on patent-related matters to attorneys and clients.
  • Assist with patent portfolio management and maintenance tasks.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in semiconductor, circuit, medical imaging, and/or USPTO matters is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

 

Certifications:

USPTO Registration as a Patent Agent.
