A law firm in Sioux Falls is seeking an experienced Litigation Trial Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial and complex civil litigation, with a passion for advocacy and a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for clients.

 

Job Overview:

  • Represent clients in court cases and adversarial legal proceedings, including arbitrations, mediations, and administrative law proceedings.
  • Handle commercial and complex civil litigation, collaborating with clients to develop effective legal strategies.
  • Draft and file briefs, motions, and other necessary judicial pleadings.
  • Conduct witness interviews and depositions, and manage the discovery process.
  • Supervise mediation sessions and offer legal advice to clients.
  • Manage multiple clients, cases, and legal activities with varying deadlines.
  • Engage in business development activities, including involvement in professional organizations and writing.
  • Supervise paralegals, staff, and team members as your role progresses.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients and businesses in civil litigation and legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate with clients and advisors to develop strategies.
  • Draft and file briefs, motions, and pleadings.
  • Conduct witness interviews and depositions.
  • Supervise mediation sessions and provide legal advice.
  • Manage multiple clients and cases with varying deadlines.
  • Engage in business development activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Successful passing of the Bar exam
  • Active member in good standing of the Bar or currently eligible for licensure in South Dakota
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, preferably with 7+ years of specific litigation/trial experience

 

Certifications:

Bar membership in South Dakota
