Job Title: Associate Attorney – Transactional/Business Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Elk Grove, CA, is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Associate Attorney with 1-4 years of experience to join a practice that serves tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and nonprofit health organizations. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to support high-impact initiatives in business, healthcare, real estate, and governance across Native communities. The role involves close collaboration with senior attorneys and clients, providing legal support on a variety of regulatory, transactional, and development-related matters.

Duties:

  • Assist senior attorneys with corporate governance, transactional structuring, and nonprofit legal matters

  • Prepare legal memoranda, contracts, and other client communications

  • Advise clients on healthcare compliance and administrative law concerns

  • Support legal reviews for real estate transactions, leasing agreements, and tribal organizational governance

  • Address regulatory issues related to intergovernmental cooperation, employment, and housing

  • Engage in limited litigation support where required

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of legal practice experience in relevant areas

  • Active license to practice law in the State of California

  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and client communication

  • Capable of managing multiple projects with accuracy and efficiency

  • Preferred experience with tribal law, healthcare compliance, or nonprofit entities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar in good standing

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and writing abilities

  • Familiarity with tribal governance structures and federal Indian law (preferred)
