Attorney - Insurance Defense

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Attorney specializing in Insurance Defense to join their team in Bethpage. The successful candidate will manage a high volume of litigation cases from inception through trial, ensuring compliance with internal case handling and reporting standards.

Duties

• Answer summonses and complaints.
• Initiate and respond to written discovery.
• Prepare and respond to motions before the court.
• Prepare for and attend court appearances as necessary.
• Prepare for and attend arbitrations, including written submissions.
• Schedule and conduct depositions and examinations under oath.
• Prepare for and attend trials as necessary.
• Maintain reporting procedures, including file reviews and diary control.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in insurance defense for an insurance carrier.
• Experience in all litigation phases, including trials to verdict.
• Strong understanding of insurance law and civil practice rules.
• Ability to analyze legal issues and interpret laws, rules, and regulations.

Education

• J.D. (Juris Doctor) Degree from an accredited US law school.

Certifications

• Maintain appropriate licensing and educational requirements.

Skills

• Proficient in handling complex, high-risk, and high-exposure cases.
• Strong analytical and legal research skills.
