A law firm located in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a dedicated Landlord Tenant Attorney with strong writing skills and at least 2 years of post-law school experience. The candidate will be responsible for attending landlord-tenant court hearings throughout the State of Michigan each week, preparing legal pleadings, conducting legal research, and negotiating settlements with opposing counsel. While landlord-tenant experience is preferred, other real estate litigation experience will be considered.

 

Duties:

  • Attend landlord-tenant court hearings throughout the State of Michigan on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings, including complaints, answers, motions, and other court documents.
  • Conduct legal research on landlord-tenant laws, regulations, and case precedents to support case strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and parties involved in landlord-tenant disputes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to provide legal advice, updates on case progress, and guidance on legal matters.
  • Represent clients in landlord-tenant disputes, including eviction proceedings, lease disputes, and property damage claims.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing lease agreements, rental contracts, and other real estate documents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient case management and client satisfaction.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-law school experience, preferably in landlord-tenant law or real estate litigation.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Experience attending court hearings and representing clients in litigation matters.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws, regulations, and procedures in the State of Michigan.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
