A law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate Attorney for their Chicago, IL office. The Intellectual Property Associate Attorney will play a crucial role in handling various aspects of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, while providing strategic advice to clients.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research on intellectual property issues and provide analysis and recommendations
  • Draft and file patent applications, trademark applications, and copyright registrations
  • Assist with patent prosecution before the USPTO
  • Represent clients in intellectual property litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
  • Negotiate and draft intellectual property agreements, such as licensing agreements and technology transfer agreements
  • Provide counsel to clients on intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies
  • Conduct intellectual property due diligence for corporate transactions
  • Stay abreast of developments in intellectual property law and industry trends

 

Requirements:

  • Member of the State Bar of California, admitted in good standing
  • Eligible to practice law in California, or eligibility subject to successful completion of the California Bar Examination
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • 3-5 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, preferably in a law firm setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Membership in the State Bar of California
