Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly experienced Appellate Litigation Attorney with 20 years of practice handling complex appellate matters. This role involves leading appellate strategy, drafting persuasive briefs, and presenting oral arguments in state and federal appellate courts. Location: Chicago

Duties

  • Lead and manage appellate matters from issue preservation through final disposition
  • Draft and review appellate briefs, motions, and petitions in state and federal courts
  • Present oral arguments before appellate courts as required
  • Advise trial teams on appellate strategy and issue preservation
  • Conduct advanced legal research and analysis on complex legal issues
  • Review trial court records to identify appealable issues
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys on appellate practice

Requirements

  • 20 years of experience in appellate litigation
  • Extensive experience handling appeals in state and federal appellate courts
  • Proven record of drafting high-quality appellate briefs and motions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-level, complex legal matters independently

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction (in good standing)
