Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Associate in New York City to manage diverse litigation matters, conduct legal research, draft documents, and support senior attorneys. The role requires strong research and writing skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience in employment law is preferred, with exposure to corporate, intellectual property, or entertainment law considered advantageous.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and factual investigations to support case strategy.
  • Draft pleadings, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document requests and third-party discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions, handle discovery disputes, and engage in motion practice.
  • Conduct client intake and case analysis, including witness interviews.
  • Draft settlement agreements and assist in updating legal handbooks.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Delegate to and supervise other associates and support staff.
  • Advance client development and marketing of the firm.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in New York.
  • Experience as a Litigation Associate, with a focus on employment law preferred.
  • Proficient in legal research and presenting findings clearly.
  • Experience with court appearances, mediations, and oral advocacy.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery programs, legal research platforms, and billing software.
  • Interest and ability in marketing and client development a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in New York.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
