Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Public Works Construction Associate in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of advisory and litigation experience in public works construction, with a focus on delivering effective solutions to complex legal issues.

Duties

  • Provide advisory and litigation support in public works construction matters.
  • Attend legislative body meetings and address routine contracting questions.
  • Conduct extensive document reviews and interpret technical matters.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, ensuring compliance with public contracting requirements.
  • Handle federal funding requirements, bid protests, and surety/bond issues.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in public works construction advisory and litigation.
  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • Proficient in public contracting requirements and contract negotiation.

Education

  • Degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management preferred.

Certifications

  • California Bar License.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to independently evaluate and respond to contracting disputes.
