Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in Fair Lawn, NJ, is seeking a Healthcare Reimbursement Attorney to handle a variety of reimbursement disputes on behalf of medical providers. This role requires expertise in New Jersey Personal Injury Protection (PIP) arbitration, as well as experience managing Workers’ Compensation medical provider claims and Commercial Arbitration cases. The position involves a combination of case management, legal research, settlement negotiations, and arbitration appearances.

Duties:

• New Jersey Workers' Compensation Cases:

  • File cases through the NJ eCourts WC Portal (CourtsOnline).
  • Handle Zoom appearances, review adversary submissions, and negotiate settlements.
  • Work closely with paralegal support for appeals.

• New Jersey Commercial Arbitrations (Surprise Bill Disputes):

  • Assess claims and prepare arbitration briefs using established templates.
  • Collaborate with paralegal support for appeals and filings.

• New York Commercial Arbitrations (Surprise Bill Disputes):

  • Prepare briefs and compile evidence, including usual, customary, and reasonable (UCR) charge documentation.
  • Develop "fee schedule" charts and liaise with clients for necessary input.
  • Receive paralegal assistance for filing and appeals.

• New Jersey PIP Arbitration:

  • Oversee PIP cases, including appeals, settlement negotiations, and arbitration hearings.
  • Utilize paralegal support for administrative tasks and filings.

• General Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage caseload and meet billable hour expectations (equivalent to 1800 hours per year).
  • Conduct thorough legal research and ensure compliance with state-specific arbitration and reimbursement regulations.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey and good standing with the NJ State Bar.
• Admission to the NY State Bar is a plus.
• 2-5 years of experience handling New Jersey PIP arbitration, with a strong emphasis on "fee scheduling" cases.
• Experience in workers’ compensation and commercial arbitration is highly preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active NJ Bar membership (Required).
• NY Bar membership (Preferred).

Skills:

• Proficiency in New Jersey PIP arbitration and fee schedule.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
