Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Estate Planning attorney in Cleveland or Columbus, Ohio. The candidate will provide expert guidance on estate planning, business succession, and estate administration, leveraging significant experience in advising clients on complex estate planning techniques.

Duties

  • Handle estate, wealth, and succession planning matters, including asset protection and tax minimization.
  • Meet with clients to discuss estate planning needs and provide guidance on wills, trusts, and directives.
  • Prepare and customize legal documents such as wills and trusts.
  • Assist executors and trustees with probate processes and tax filings.
  • Prepare Federal estate and gift tax returns.
  • Advise on minimizing estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
  • Represent clients in probate court proceedings.
  • Stay current with changes in estate planning and tax laws.
  • Maintain long-term client relationships and provide ongoing advice.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of estate planning law experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio; Florida preferred.
  • Proficiency with estate planning software.
  • Excellent legal writing and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and client-focused approach.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Masters of Laws (LLM) in Taxation preferred.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio; Florida preferred.
