A law firm seeks a seasoned litigation attorney to join its expanding real estate practice in Columbus, OH. This full-time role offers substantial opportunities for professional advancement within a supportive, growth-oriented environment. Duties

  • Handle enforcement actions for property restrictions and covenant disputes

  • Advise and represent clients in contract litigations involving real estate matters

  • Manage construction defect claims, coordinating fact investigation and case strategy

  • Oversee real property assessment recovery processes, including lien filings and foreclosure proceedings

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy-related real estate matters and associated post-bankruptcy issues

  • Conduct all phases of litigation: drafting pleadings (complaints, answers), propounding and responding to discovery, preparing witnesses, and taking/defending depositions

  • Lead motion practice, trial preparation, courtroom presentation, and appellate work as needed

  • Engage directly with clients, offering regular status updates and strategic guidance

  • Deliver presentations at client meetings and participate in public speaking engagements related to case matters

Requirements

  • Active admission to the Ohio Bar, in good standing

  • Minimum of five years of litigation experience in one or more of the following areas: real estate, corporate, contract law, or civil matters on behalf of governmental bodies

  • Record of diligence and strong work ethic demonstrated through prior positions

  • Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems and the ability to adopt other legal-focused software tools

  • Availability during standard business hours and willingness to attend occasional evening or weekend client meetings

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a capacity to foster strong relationships and collaborate effectively

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio

Skills

  • Capacity to manage a substantial caseload independently, overseeing both personally generated and assigned matters

  • Aptitude for leading and mentoring support staff, ensuring smooth administrative operations

  • Ability to maintain detailed electronic task lists and billing records; familiarity with legal billing platforms is beneficial

  • Strong analytical abilities to assess complex case facts and formulate sound legal strategies

  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of crafting persuasive briefs, motions, and correspondence

  • Solid oral advocacy and public speaking skills for client meetings, depositions, and courtroom appearances

  • Adaptability in fast-paced settings, with an eye for prioritization and attention to evolving case needs
