Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate for its Labor and Employment department in White Plains, NY. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented team member with strong communication skills and a desire to grow their practice. This role requires 5-7 years of litigation experience in state and federal court, with municipal, employment, and education law experience being advantageous.

Duties

  • Handle employment-related, civil rights, and municipal litigation from discovery through trial.
  • Draft discovery motions, motions to dismiss, and summary judgment motions.
  • Provide legal advice on employment law matters, including hiring practices and employee relations.
  • Manage employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances, and arbitrations.
  • Conduct collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Handle cases before administrative tribunals such as the Public Employment Relations Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Advise on education-related matters, including special education services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of state and/or federal court litigation experience.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court motion practice and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association.

Skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
