A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team in San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate will attend depositions, court appearances, inspections, and other legal proceedings in person as needed to provide exceptional representation to clients. This role involves primarily complex litigation such as class actions, representative actions, and mass torts, as well as work in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for drafting motions and briefs, attending hearings and depositions, communicating with clients, negotiating settlements, and assisting with case management and litigation strategy. This position requires licensure to practice in California.

 

Job Overview

The Associate Attorney will be an integral part of the litigation team, working on a variety of complex cases and providing legal counsel to clients. This role offers the opportunity to develop trial skills, participate in professional development meetings, and contribute to impactful legal work.

 

Duties:

  • Attend depositions, court appearances, inspections, and other legal proceedings in person.
  • Handle complex litigation matters including class actions, mass torts, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases.
  • Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on case-specific issues.
  • Communicate with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation or alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Assist with case management and development of litigation strategies.
  • Attend professional development and trial skills development meetings.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • 1-4 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience drafting motions and briefs.
  • Strong time-management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following practice areas: Labor and Employment, Wage and Hour, Consumer Protection, Privacy, Civil Rights (including Sexual Abuse), Catastrophic Injury and Death.
  • Class action experience is desired.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in California.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
