Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney in Newark, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance coverage or related fields. This role requires managing a caseload from start to finish, demonstrating sound judgment, and maintaining professional communication skills. The attorney will primarily work from the New York office but may support matters across the firm's regional footprint.

Duties

  • Analyze insurance and reinsurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions.
  • Review complex insurance contracts and assess associated legal issues.
  • Communicate with clients to provide clear and strategic coverage recommendations.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Manage litigation caseloads, including depositions, court appearances, and motion practice.
  • Perform in-depth legal research and respond to regulatory inquiries.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by adhering to client guidelines and delivering exceptional service.
  • Accurately record and maintain billable hours while meeting all deadlines.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in the State of New York is required; admission in New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania is a plus.
  • Federal Court experience is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience in insurance coverage or related fields.
  • Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with written discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Insurance defense experience is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the State Bar of New York.
