This position is ideal for a legal professional with 10 years of experience in complex estate, gift, and tax planning. The ideal candidate will be adept at designing sophisticated estate plans, counseling high-net-worth clients, and navigating the intricacies of federal and state tax law.

Duties

  • Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, and family business succession
  • Draft complex estate planning documents such as irrevocable trusts, GRATs, and charitable trusts
  • Provide legal counsel on federal and state tax issues involving estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes
  • Structure tax-efficient wealth transfer plans for individuals, families, and closely held businesses
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and fiduciaries to implement estate plans
  • Handle probate and estate administration matters when needed
  • Stay current on developments in tax legislation, trust law, and estate planning best practices
  • Support clients through all stages of wealth planning with a focus on preserving and transferring wealth

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and tax planning
  • Proven track record of advising high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Extensive experience in drafting and implementing complex estate planning instruments
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws related to estates and gifts
  • Strong client-relations skills and ability to manage long-term planning relationships

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation preferred but not required

Certifications

  • Active license and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CFP®, CPA) are a plus
