A law firm is seeking a Biotech-Life Science Patent Prosecution Patent Agent or Scientist with the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Job Overview:

The Biotech-Life Science Patent Prosecution Patent Agent or Scientist will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions. The role requires applying scientific expertise alongside legal and commercial considerations to support clients' objectives in commercialization. Excellent academic credentials and strong communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with supervising attorneys and clients.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Apply scientific expertise to understand clients' commercialization goals and provide strategic guidance.
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys across multiple offices, providing remote support as needed.
  • Deliver clear and compelling oral presentations to explain technical concepts and work product.
  • Work independently to manage workload and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal and regulatory developments in biotech and life sciences.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical inventions.
  • Experience in biotech commercialization, such as university tech transfer or industry commercialization/regulatory compliance, is desirable.
  • Previous law firm or industry experience preferred.
  • Current admission to the USPTO is required.
  • Excellent academic credentials and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with remote work and able to effectively support multiple offices.

Education and Certifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, or comparable field.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

Skills:

  • Strong scientific expertise in biotechnology or life sciences.
  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge to legal and commercial contexts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and legal documents.
