Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is looking to hire a Senior Associate to join its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This position requires a high level of academic achievement, strong law firm experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The selected candidate will manage patent preparation and prosecution, specializing in electrical engineering and software-related technologies for a diverse client base.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Drafting and filing high-quality patent applications.

  • Managing the patent prosecution process for electrical engineering and software-related technologies.

  • Ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of submissions.

  • Supervising and mentoring associates to enhance their professional development.

  • Drafting and prosecuting patents for advanced technologies such as GPUs, TPUs, accelerators, neural engines, and robotics.

Requirements:

  • At least six years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.

  • Strong educational background with a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics.

  • Proven expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for complex technologies.

  • Strong understanding of patent laws and USPTO procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction where the candidate intends to practice.

  • Admission to the USPTO required.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven ability to manage and prosecute patent applications.

  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior associates.

  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property and patent law.
