Job Overview

A well-established boutique matrimonial and family law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to support its growing caseload. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated attorney with family law experience to work closely with a principal attorney, gain courtroom exposure, and engage in meaningful client work. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and confident handling matters independently.

Location

  • Hauppauge, New York

Duties

  • Assist lead attorney in managing matrimonial and family law matters

  • Represent clients at virtual and in-person court appearances

  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence

  • Prepare discovery documents and handle trial preparation tasks

  • Negotiate and draft Stipulations of Settlement, Separation Agreements, and Prenuptial Agreements

  • Meet with clients to provide counsel and strategy

  • Participate in settlement conferences and case resolution efforts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing matrimonial and/or family law

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently

  • Demonstrated reliability, organizational skills, and attention to detail

  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic legal environment with minimal supervision

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admitted and in good standing with the New York State Bar

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills

  • Familiarity with family law practice and procedure in New York courts

  • Capable of negotiating, drafting, and finalizing agreements

  • Client-focused with professional demeanor and discretion
