A law firm based in New Orleans, LA, is actively seeking a Veterans Disability Attorney with a strong passion for advocating for veterans. This position requires an attorney with a proven track record in handling cases before the Agency and Board of Veterans' Appeals (BVA). The ideal candidate will be committed to providing excellent legal services, maintaining a compassionate approach, and continuously updating their knowledge of veterans' law.

Duties:

  • Advocate vigorously for veterans in disability claims and appeals before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Board of Veterans' Appeals.
  • Conduct in-depth case analyses to develop strategic approaches tailored to each client's needs.
  • Draft and present detailed legal documents, including briefs, motions, and appeals, ensuring all submissions are supported by meticulous research.
  • Maintain proactive and clear communication with clients, regularly updating them on case progress and effectively addressing their inquiries.
  • Collaborate closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure a cohesive approach to case management.
  • Stay informed of the latest developments in laws, regulations, and policies that impact veterans' benefits.
  • Participate in and sometimes lead outreach and educational programs designed to support the veteran community and raise awareness about veterans' rights.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with any State Bar; preference for Louisiana State Bar membership.
  • At least 1 year of dedicated experience in veterans' disability law, including substantive work with agency and BVA claims.
  • Demonstrated passion for veterans' advocacy and a proven track record of successful case handling.
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to perform detailed legal research and produce exceptional written legal arguments.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of handling client relations with empathy and professionalism.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) required from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be an active member in good standing with a State Bar, preferably the Louisiana State Bar.

Skills:

  • Profound knowledge of veterans' law and the procedures of the VA and BVA.
  • Exceptional legal writing and research abilities.
