A well-regarded law firm specializing in administrative defense is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3-4 years of experience in administrative law, specifically in federal litigation matters. The firm is one of the country's leading firms in administrative defense and focuses on employment-based immigration matters, including H-2A, H-2B, and H-1B visa issues. The ideal candidate will have experience working with administrative agencies, including clerking for a federal Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) or handling complex federal civil cases. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney eager to grow in administrative litigation, with training provided to enhance expertise in areas such as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and mandamus litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and represent clients in administrative litigation, focusing on immigration-related cases such as H-2A, H-2B, and H-1B visa matters.
  • Handle complex federal litigation, including FOIA and mandamus cases, with an emphasis on strategic legal research and analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in preparing and presenting cases before administrative bodies and courts.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on administrative law issues, particularly those involving federal agencies and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft persuasive legal briefs, motions, and memoranda.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the firm’s specialized system and contribute to its continued success and expansion in administrative litigation.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs, assess risks, and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Stay up to date with developments in administrative law, including updates to federal regulations, policies, and case law.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3-4 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in administrative law and federal litigation.
  • Proven experience in administrative litigation, especially related to the U.S. Department of Labor, is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience clerking for a federal ALJ or working closely with administrative law judges is highly valued.
  • Strong legal research and writing abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) and administrative law procedures.
  • A demonstrated interest in immigration law is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is appreciated, though not required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a commitment to professional growth.

Education & Certifications:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive into the DC bar.
